The Cat's Diary
Day 983 of my captivity...
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. IDIOTS!!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously RETARDED. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...
***Obviously this does not apply to our cat (to Jon's disappointment) -today our cat tried to escape - after just 1 hour (having snuck outside - he is an escape artist) we heard him clawing his way up the back screen door with his ears straight back - trying to find a way back to safety! What a wimpus!

On the MOVE again...
Well, it's official - we have packed 13 boxes (only 200 to go) ...we are moving.
I asked Jon today - "What are we going to do when we don't have to move in 2 years?" I am not sure we will know what to do with ourselves in a "settled" state. I think we may just have to pack some boxes for fun!
We are outta here on May 27th! Exactly 1 year from our arrival to San Jose. The big bad moving truck will be here at 8am sharp!
This is such a BITTERSWEET move for us as we will get to be near all of our family (finally after 8 years) BUT we are leaving our California dream behind.
Just another adventure for the Elder's so hang onto your hats folks!

OUCH!!!! The WORST bruise ever!!!
So it is no secret that I am very clutsy and unfortunately it seems to be getting worse with age.
This is the evidence of my inability to lift up my feet.
Yesterday I was busy chatting away on the phone with my pal Carolyn and went out to the garage to get the crate that we have our Tupperware lids in. All of a sudden my brain forgot how to tell my feet to walk up the two concrete steps that lead into our kitchen and thud...bang...bam...I was suddenly flat on my face in the kitchen. The lids scattered everywhere and Carolyn thrown across the room. Jon came running in and when asked what had happened - all I could say is " I think I broke my breastbone...tell Carolyn I will have to call her back". My big right toe was temporarily paralyzed and numb, I had an instant bruise on my left underarm where I think the crate jammed into me, two bruised knees and a red line across my chest. IT HURT OH SO BAD! I tried to be bold and not cry-but the tears came instantly.
This morning I awoke at the usual crack of darkness (4:30am) and could barely move or get out of bed. My chest felt so tight that I could not even lift my arms above my chest without holding my breath. It was not until I got out of the shower that I found this goodie!
So - I think it looks like a big ripe plum and it is the size of a navel orange. I am still not clear on how it all happened or what the heck jammed into me - but man is it sore.
We saw the doctor today just to make sure all was well - no broken or fractured bones - just some bruising - well DUH! Thanks doc! :) (and by the way we did get a lot of ahhhs and ohhhhs)and one of our doctors stated "that is the WORST bruise ever"... so there!

DO YOU BOCCE?
We had a fab date night on Friday night - I asked Jon out! I know you are all thinking "Whew what a gutsy lady-way to take a risk"!

This is ITALIAN for "Game Over"... or - you can translate!
If you are so inspired you can go to ibocce.com and find a local Bocce hang out. Learn a little Italian along the way! Ciao!
Anyway - we love BOCCE BALL...and there is this really cool indoor/outdoor Bocce Ball court place not far from our house. Secretly we fantasize about building one of our own once we move to AZ! Anyway - you can eat dinner or just order fun appetizers and drinks.
We opted for appetizers and had our own court for almost 2 hours. I was not happy as I started out the game kicking the pants off Jon (and just a note I am a sore winner as well as a sore loser)and then (if you have ever played Bocce you will understand) he just decided to get mean and was knocking my balls all around the court and then slammed the win two sets in a row.
I am calling a "rematch date" and it will not be friendly. Here are some pics from the court side:
Before Jon got nasty!

Me - SURPRISED at his unyielding behavior!

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE MY HUSBAND? So, I came home from work on Valentine's Day and this is what I found - need I say more?

More Space...
Our 950SF house here in San Jose is starting to close in on us...and even worse for JON since he works from home! Although we are IN LOVE with our ward and the location of where we live, we can't imagine living in a house this small for a LOOOONG period of time, especially if Jon continues to work from home!

And finally - the view from our bedroom window - look at those mountains - c'est Magnifique! Oui?
So Alicia and Brett have been great at taking pictures of our house in AZ. The progress is amazing and we are getting so excited to be near family again. It has been 8 years since we lived nearby. We are also so excited because we can take some new exciting trips by gaining vacation time that we usually lose traveling home for the holidays - I know...very SELFISH benefit! and...we will be able to entertain more than just the dog and cat!
Any way our house was supposed to be done in November - looks like June now. The foreman at the site said that the housing market has slowed down so much that when he calls a crew to come out to work they are there in 30 minutes. He said a year ago they would have taken 1-2 months. WOW - in fact that made us feel extremely blessed to be doing what we are doing at a time like this!
So here is the house 3 weeks ago...courtesy of the Moeller's:

J just got back from a construction walk (pre dry wall and insulation) this week and here is where the house is from 3 weeks ago...

The MOST important NEWS of all!
ALICIA is pregnant! Yes my little sister is almost 4 months prego-she is due in September!
Jon and I made them baby's FIRST quilt and here is a pic of "prego" Alish and Brett with the quilt. I had so much fun making it for them. Auntie Keele and Uncle Jon are going to have so much fun spoiling their niece or nephew!

She waited until the end of her first trimester to tell the whole family - little sneaky snake! And as you can guess my mom is KOO KOO for COCOA PUFFS about the up and coming grand baby....she squealed with DE-LITE from what I hear.
We are so excited to get to spoil and little "mini" Alicia or Brett. Jon was out there this past weekend to check on our house and got to see the family. He stated that he will believe it once he sees a bump! Ha!
But - here is a photo of the kinda "sick" announcement of their pending birth of a child. Keep in mind Alicia is a nurse and Brett is is serious jokester so this is very fitting. I did hear that it was actually Ashley's idea - she had stated that she wanted to get FETUS cookies from Alicia when she is pregnant. Something about eating a baby fetus is just GROSS! Call me crazy!
